The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel

Are you curious about Jesus – Fable, Teacher, Prophet, Messiah? Scott Scheiry is facilitating a small group based on the text, The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, a one-time atheist and legal editor for the Chicago Tribune. Using discussion and a video Bible Study, participants in this five-week group will learn about Strobel’s investigative reporting with experts to uncover evidence for Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Come gather with Scott to join the investigation and follow the evidence that makes “The Case for Christ.”

A New Reformation by Rob Fuquay

A New Reformation” returns to the small group rotation! Tom Engle is leading a five-week group using this popular text and video series. Justified by faith. This battle cry of the Protestant Reformation is just as relevant and true for Christians today as it was in Martin Luther’s time. In A New Reformation, author Rob Fuquay introduces you to the life of Martin Luther and two important themes of the Reformation he sparked: the centrality of Scripture and the power of God’s grace. Through a close look into the life of Martin Luther and the world of sixteenth-century Europe, you will discover what makes Luther’s message revolutionary today – and how we can embrace Reformation in the church and in our personal lives.

Lutheran Trump Cards by Dave Daubert

While A New Reformation provides the context and core content of the Protestant Reformation, this fall’s third small group offering dives into Lutheran Protestantism in particular. Beginning Monday, November 18 join Jennifer Schlegel in a five-week session to learn more about core Lutheran theology as explained in Lutheran Trump Cards. This is an accessible and brief text by Dave Daubert, a Lutheran pastor, teacher, consultant, and coach. Daubert provides insights to what it means to be a Lutheran Christian and how to practice Lutheran Christianity in the contemporary church. Come learn about our core Lutheran values and how we might enhance them in our Lutheran community that is St. John’s. This class is appropriate for anyone who wants to gain or refresh their knowledge of what it means to be a Lutheran Protestant Christian and learn how to follow through with Lutheran action and witness.
